Windows won't boot

Often Windows users have a problem during the boot process (program crash). There may be several reasons for this:

Hardware that has low fault tolerance;
Computer is shut down incorrectly;
A deleted system file by mistake;
a hard disk on which a failed area has occurred;
viruses and others.

The very first thing to do when Windows crashes is to restart the computer or de-energize it. It will also be effective to disconnect the mouse, printer, keyboard, etc., and connect them one by one. This will help to rule out the problem exactly in the external equipment.

If, on the other hand, an error message appears on the screen, you need to analyze the text.
The message “BOOTMGR is missing” signals that the operating system boot loader is damaged or missing. You need to install the Windows disk by downloading the image from the official site. But here it is necessary to enter the product key.

You can use the Microsoft Windows and Office ISO Download Tool. You will not need to install it. Just download and run it. After start-up the message will appear (click “No”). Select the desired version of Windows, the language, and click “Download. Using the program Microsoft Windows USB / DVD Download Tool is recommended to write the image to a flash drive. After that restart your computer and press one of the keys ESC, F6, F2 (depending on your device). It is needed to open BIOS. After starting BIOS in the “Boot device priority” section use “+” or “PgUp” buttons to select booting to the flash drive, from which you then install Windows and press “Restore system”. From the list of operations choose the bottom one and “Next”. The “System Restore Options” window appears. We need either “System Restore System Startup” (to automatically fix the OS startup problem) or “Command Line” (if the first option fails). When “Command Line” is loaded, type “bootrec /rebuildbcd” and “Enter”. Agree to make changes to the boot configuration data and press “Y” and “Enter” in turn. Using the command “Bootrec /FixBoot” create a new boot sector – restart the computer.

The message “No bootable device”, “No Boot device found”, “Invalid boot device”, “Non system disk or disk error” indicates that the device failed to start the OS and could not find the boot sector or hard disk. You need to enter the “Boot device priority” section in BIOS. In case the hard disk drive is invisible, the problem lies in the hardware (power cable or hard disk cable got loose, or the hard disk drive is broken). If the hard disc is normally detected by the computer, the reason may be the boot record (MBR). It is either missing or damaged. You will need to boot from an installation flash (disk) and run the bootrec /fixmbr command.

If a message called “Blue Screen of Death” appears on the screen, it means that updates are installed incorrectly, the RAM is not working properly, or system files are missing. These messages may appear after a driver update and the contents will look like this: “DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL” and the file name.

Many users have the question “How to boot in safe Windows mode?”. To do that, press the F8 button. In the menu that appears, select “Safe Mode”. This will help fix the failure. After the safe boot of Windows, select “Device Manager” and remove the problem driver. If after the manipulation “Blue Screen of Death” has not disappeared, you need to return to the driver version with which there was no problem. To do this, press F8 and select “Computer Troubleshooting” when the operating system is loaded. In the “Recovery Options” menu, click on “System Restore” and select a restore point.

A common problem is the lack of drivers with a SYS extension. You can find them on the installation disk or a flash drive by inserting it into another computer, or you can use Kaspersky Rescue Disk, a computer repair program.

If you have tried all possible options for fixing the crash on your PC and nothing has worked, then you need to check if the hard drive is working. You can do this with the MHDD program, which is run from a bootable flash drive. In the menu of the program from the list choose the channel with the hard disk connected to the OS and specify its number. Here you can see S.M.A.R.T. data, “medical card” of hard disk drive (F8), make scan for errors (F4).

Often “Blue Screen of Death” appears due to problems with RAM.

If you have a failure in your computer and after trying all possible ways to fix it yourself, you have not succeeded, it is better to contact a specialist who will save your device.
